Welcome to the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dietitians, the Regulatory Body of Registered Dietitians in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dietitians (NLCD) regulates and ensures competence of Registered Dietitians in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL). NLCD is dedicated to ensuring that the public receives ethical, competent care and service.

The practice of Dietetics is regulated by provincial legislation titled “AN ACT TO REGULATE THE PRACTICE OF DIETETICS”, 2005.

Registration with NLCD is mandatory to use the title(s) “Dietitian”, “Registered Dietitian” and the initials “R.D.”.

NLCD is member of the Alliance of Canadian Dietetic Regulatory Bodies (Alliance). The Alliance is made up of 10 independent dietetic regulatory bodies across the country who work together to address common regulatory issues. The Alliance is responsible for the Mutual Recognition Agreement, which facilitates labour mobility for Registered Dietitians in Canada.

Our Structure

The functions of NLCD are carried out by a volunteer board and committees.
